Shani Dev is one of the most popular deities that the Hindus pray to ward off evil and remove obstacles. Shani is the son of Surya, the Sun God, and the brother of Yama, the God of Death. Both sons of Surya are said to judge – Shani judges one’s deeds in life and gives appropriate rewards or punishments, Yama grants the judgement after one’s death.
